The PNG Economic Database was launched on 30 September 2021 by the Treasurer of PNG, the Hon Ian Ling Stuckey. Read the Treasurer’s speech here.

Consistent data on the PNG economy back to independence is sparse. To fill this gap, the ANU-UPNG partnership has created the PNG Economic Database. The PNG Economic Database contains economic data for PNG back to independence, with 175 series which is free to download.

In the Series pages you will find graphs based on the data, along with explanations, taken from this joint ANU-UPNG publication.

Notes on how the series were constructed are contained in the Data Notes section. Further information about the database can be found in the About section.
